Ankara: Sudan's Foreign Minister Mohieddin Salem announced that the nation is moving closer to achieving peace, expressing optimism that this newfound stability will open doors for enhanced collaboration with Trkiye, which he identified as a "strategic ally."

According to Anadolu Agency, Salem made these statements during the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Sudanese Embassy in Ankara. He emphasized that Sudan's Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have been legally categorized as a terrorist militia, precluding any negotiations. "Most of those fighting with RSF are now mercenaries. I don't think it is logical to negotiate with a mercenary on my ground. So, there is no negotiation," Salem asserted.

The foreign minister revealed that Sudan has presented a "very frank and very open initiative" to the UN Security Council on December 22, 2025, detailing the government's strategy to address the RSF issue. This initiative reflects the government's vision for handling the militia, according to Salem.

Salem also highlighted his discussions with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan regarding Sudan's comprehensive approach to the peace process. He noted that with the progress of Sudanese troops, the country is edging closer to peace, which will facilitate strategic cooperation with Trkiye in the rehabilitation of Sudan. "The technology and experience of Trkiye and its companies across various sectors will be integral to Sudan's rehabilitation. Trkiye is a strategic ally of Sudan and will play a pivotal role in the coming years," Salem concluded.
