Khartoum: The Sudanese army announced that it carried out a strategic preemptive attack south of the Al-Keili area in Blue Nile state, resulting in the killing of several Rapid Support Forces (RSF) fighters and the destruction of nine combat vehicles. This operation, described as 'well-planned,' was conducted by the armed forces and allied units based on precise intelligence, according to a statement from Sudan's Defense Ministry.

According to Anadolu Agency, the ministry detailed that the operation inflicted significant losses on the RSF, including the destruction of their main combat capabilities, leaving their presence in the area 'completely paralyzed.' The RSF has not yet commented on these claims from the army.

This development follows the army's announcement of gaining control over 11 areas in North Kordofan state after clashes with the RSF. The situation in the Blue Nile region remains tense, with the RSF previously conducting drone attacks on Damazin, the state capital. The Sudanese army reported shooting down an RSF drone in the Balanq area and regaining control of the strategic Jabal Kadam area in Blue Nile, successfully repelling an attack by the RSF and its ally, the Sudan People's Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N).

Earlier in the month, Transitional Sovereignty Council Chairman Abdel Fattah al-Burhan visited Damazin to assess the army's 4th Infantry Division's combat readiness. This visit coincided with the arrival of Joint Forces allied with the army and a specialized brigade from the General Intelligence Service to support military operations in Blue Nile.

The conflict in Sudan, particularly in regions like Blue Nile, Darfur, and the Kordofan states, has been ongoing since April 2023, following the outbreak of war between the Sudanese army and the RSF. This conflict has resulted in the deaths of tens of thousands and the displacement of approximately 13 million people, based on estimates from the UN and international organizations.
