Ankara: The Sudanese army, in collaboration with allied forces, successfully repelled the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the regions of Hajar al-Marafieen and Bir Saliba, as announced by Darfur Governor Minni Arko Minnawi on Tuesday. The governor highlighted the strategic win on social media, emphasizing the determination and resilience of the army in overcoming the RSF's aggression.

According to Anadolu Agency, reports from the battlefield suggest that RSF commander Mahdi Adam was killed during the confrontations. Additionally, members of the Joint Force of Armed Movements and the Popular Resistance, who are allied with the Sudanese army, shared videos claiming victory over the RSF. These videos featured military vehicles they alleged to have captured from the RSF.

As of 1700GMT, the RSF had not issued any comments regarding these developments. Currently, the RSF has control over all five Darfur states in western Sudan, with exceptions in parts of North Darfur still under army control. Conversely, the Sudanese army maintains control over most of the country's remaining 13 states, including the capital city, Khartoum.

The ongoing conflict in Sudan began in April 2023, stemming from disputes over plans to integrate the RSF into the regular military. The war has resulted in tens of thousands of fatalities and displaced approximately 13 million people, as estimated by the United Nations.
