Ankara: Sudanese Armed Forces Chief of Staff Yasser al-Atta stated Monday that the army is advancing on all fronts with the goal of eliminating the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) by the end of the year.

According to Anadolu Agency, al-Atta addressed a gathering of fighters in a video shared by army supporters on social media, as reported by the Sudan Tribune. The location of the gathering was undisclosed.

Al-Atta emphasized the army's strategy, saying, "We are implementing the theory of advancing in all directions, with all fronts moving simultaneously, as happened during the recapture of Khartoum state." He further declared, "Before the end of this year, there will not be a single Janjaweed fighter or a foreign fighter, and we are determined to achieve that."

His remarks followed a swift military operation by the army and allied forces, which resulted in the seizure of Bara, Jabra al-Sheikh, Um Sayala, and other strategic positions along the export road connecting Omdurman with El-Obeid in North Kordofan.

The three Kordofan states-North, West, and South-have been sites of continued conflict between the army and the RSF since October 2025. The conflict, which began in April 2023, has resulted in tens of thousands of deaths and displaced nearly 13 million people, based on UN and international estimates.
