Khartoum: The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) paramilitary group has firmly denied any allegations of losing its ongoing conflict against the Sudanese army, asserting that it is instead 'strategically repositioning' its forces. In a statement released on Thursday, the RSF declared, 'We loudly declare that our forces have never lost a battle.'

According to Anadolu Agency, the RSF emphasized that their forces have been strategically repositioned and expanded across the battlefronts to secure their military objectives. This move, they claim, is paving the way for an ultimate resolution of the conflict in favor of the Sudanese people. Despite these assertions, Sudan's Sovereign Council Chairman Abdel Fattah al-Burhan recently declared the capital Khartoum 'free' after army forces reportedly expelled RSF fighters from the city.

The RSF reiterated its commitment to continue fighting 'until all wars cease, security and stability are restored.' The group stated that its forces will persist with 'firm strength' in defending the nation's soil to secure a decisive victory, maintaining their commitment to protecting the nation and upholding the dignity of the Sudanese people.

In recent weeks, the RSF's territorial control has rapidly diminished, with the Sudanese army reclaiming areas across several states, including Khartoum, Al-Jazira, White Nile, North Kordofan, Sennar, and Blue Nile. The ongoing conflict between the army and RSF, which began in mid-April 2023, has resulted in catastrophic consequences, with more than 20,000 lives lost and 14 million people displaced, as reported by the UN and local authorities. Research from US universities, however, suggests the death toll could be as high as 130,000.

The international community and the UN have been vocal in their calls for an end to the war, warning of an impending humanitarian catastrophe. As millions face severe food shortages, the conflict has already spread to 13 of Sudan's 18 states, further intensifying the crisis.
