Damascus: The first Eid al-Adha prayers took place in Syria on Friday following the fall of the Bashar Assad regime. Thousands gathered at the Umayyad Mosque in Damascus, a site of historical significance, to participate in the Eid prayers.
According to Anadolu Agency, attendees from different provinces came to the Umayyad Mosque to pray for the safety and peace of the nation. The prayers marked a significant moment for the country as it moves forward from the Assad era.
In addition to the events in Damascus, many people across other provinces visited the graves of their deceased family members. Following the prayers, large numbers also proceeded to sacrificial slaughterhouses, adhering to traditional Eid customs.
