Homs: Syrian authorities announced the seizure of weapons and explosives intended for terrorist attacks by loyalists of the deposed Bashar al-Assad regime. The General Security Directorate revealed that the explosives were confiscated in the Al-Waer neighborhood of central Homs city, following a tip-off.

According to Anadolu Agency, the seized materials were reportedly prepared for use in terrorist activities in the area. Syrian security forces have been conducting regular raids targeting Assad loyalists who have refused to surrender their weapons to the new authorities. These efforts are part of the ongoing security measures following the regime change.

Bashar al-Assad, who led Syria for nearly 25 years, fled to Russia after anti-regime groups seized control of Damascus in December. This event marked the end of the Baath Party regime, which had been in power since 1963. Ahmed al-Sharaa, who spearheaded the anti-regime forces that ousted Assad, was declared president for a transitional period in late January.
