Ankara: Syria and Trkiye have made "a new history," stated Asaad Al-Shaibani, the foreign minister of the new Syrian administration, during a joint news conference with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. Shaibani expressed gratitude to Trkiye and its citizens for their support since the onset of the "revolution in Syria."

According to Anadolu Agency, Shaibani emphasized that the new history is rooted in brotherhood, aiming to ensure regional stability and security. He underscored the importance of Syria's territorial integrity, stating, "Our territorial unity is very important. We want all our lands, under the central government, to be under one roof." Shaibani also highlighted the potential for enhanced relations between Trkiye and Syria, expressing appreciation for Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's hospitality.

Shaibani remarked on the Syrian people's stance against dictatorship and the new administration's commitment to rebuilding the nation. He highlighted efforts to create a country "based on institutions, not individuals," aiming for regional and global integration. He criticized the Baath regime, asserting that it did not serve the Syrian people's interests.

Shaibani called for international support and cooperation for Syria, stressing the need for unity and cooperation to heal the nation's wounds. He emphasized the importance of improving educational institutions and promised a dignified life for Syrians. "Syria today truly needs support for redevelopment. We are expecting help from the international community, especially from brotherly and friendly countries."

Shaibani assured that Syria will not pose a threat to neighboring countries, particularly regarding the PKK/YPG terror group's activities. He reiterated the importance of restoring the central government's control and the Arab identity of the region. Shaibani also affirmed the significance of the National Dialogue Conference in shaping Syria's future, with 1,200 representatives expected to participate.

The new Syrian administration plans to hold the National Dialogue Conference this month to engage all societal segments in discussions about the country's future. This development follows the overthrow of Bashar Assad's regime, with Assad fleeing to Russia after anti-regime groups seized control of Damascus on December 8, ending the Baath Party's long-standing rule.
