Syrian Ministerial Delegation Visits Qatar to Enhance Investment Opportunities

Doha: A high-level Syrian ministerial delegation arrived in Doha for talks aimed at exploring bilateral cooperation and investment opportunities. In a post on X, Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani stated that the visit aims to strengthen relations between Damascus and Doha. This initiative is part of Syria’s new administration’s efforts to rebuild regional partnerships and revive its war-torn economy.

According to Anadolu Agency, Syria’s state news agency SANA reported that Finance Minister Mohammed Barnieh met with his Qatari counterpart, Ali bin Ahmed Al-Kuwari, to discuss developing mechanisms of cooperation between the two countries. Furthermore, Syrian Tourism Minister Mazen al-Salhani met with Saad bin Ali Al-Kharji, chairman of Qatar Tourism, to discuss “horizons of joint cooperation and investment in touristic projects.”

The Syrian-Qatari relations have seen significant improvement since the ouster of the Bashar al-Assad regime in December last year, with Doha reopening its Damascus embassy in the same month after a 13-year closure. Ahmad Al-Sharaa, who led anti-regime forces to oust Assad, was declared president for a transitional period in late January.
