Brasilia: Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa has arrived in Brazil for a two-day visit to participate in the COP30 climate summit, which runs from November 6 to 21. This marks a historic moment as Sharaa becomes the first Syrian president to attend a UN climate conference since the series began in 1995.

According to Anadolu Agency, the COP30 summit is anticipated to gather approximately 50,000 participants, including world leaders, scientists, and representatives from non-governmental organizations. The event is focused on global efforts to address the pressing climate crisis.

Following the summit, President Sharaa is scheduled to travel to Washington, where he will meet with US President Donald Trump. This meeting is expected to be significant in terms of diplomatic relations and potential collaborative efforts on climate issues.
