Damascus: Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa and Lebanese Druze leader Walid Jumblatt discussed recent regional developments during a meeting in Damascus on Saturday. The talks took place at the People's Palace in the Syrian capital.
According to Anadolu Agency, the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported that the two sides reviewed 'the latest developments in the region,' though no further details were provided. The agency did not specify the timing of Jumblatt's arrival in Syria or the duration of his visit.
Jumblatt, the former leader of the Progressive Socialist Party, was one of the first figures to visit Damascus following the ouster of Bashar al-Assad's regime on December 8, 2024. He had previously met with Sharaa on December 22, when Sharaa was serving as head of Syria's transitional administration. At that time, Jumblatt expressed a desire to see 'Syrian-Lebanese relations return to their natural course,' according to Lebanon's National News Agency.
