Ankara: Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa met with a delegation of US members of Congress and Tom Barrack, the US envoy for Syria and Iraq, during a visit to the Tucapital on Wednesday.
According to Anadolu Agency, the meeting, which took place on the sidelines of the NATO summit, also included Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani. While the discussions were reportedly significant, specific details of the conversation or the identities of the US congressional members involved were not immediately disclosed.
President Sharaa's visit to Ankara coincided with Trkiye hosting the NATO summit for the second time, following the 2004 Istanbul summit. The summit, held on Tuesday and Wednesday, is addressing mounting challenges faced by NATO and broader international security concerns.
