Aleppo: Two Syrian soldiers were killed and a third seriously injured when the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) launched an attack on a military position near Aleppo in northern Syria. The incident, which occurred on Wednesday, involved a guided missile striking an army position near Tishrin Dam in eastern Aleppo, as reported by official media.

According to Anadolu Agency, the state-run Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) cited the Defense Ministry's Media and Communications Directorate, which described the attack as a 'blatant violation' of previous understandings and agreements between the government and the SDF. The ministry emphasized that the SDF continues to disregard these agreements by targeting army positions and causing casualties among military personnel.

The recent attack follows a previous incident on October 9, where a Syrian soldier was killed, and others were injured in a similar attack by the SDF in the same area. This pattern of aggression raises concerns about the stability of the region, especially after a ceasefire agreement was reached just days earlier.

Three days before this attack, Defense Minister Murhaf Abu Qasra and SDF Commander Mazloum Abdi had agreed to an immediate ceasefire in northern and northeastern Syria. This agreement followed armed clashes in the Al-Ashrafiyah and Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhoods in Aleppo, highlighting ongoing tensions despite diplomatic efforts.

The SDF, dominated by the terrorist group YPG, which is the Syrian branch of the PKK, remains a contentious force in the region. On March 10, an agreement was announced by the Syrian presidency to integrate the SDF into state institutions, with an emphasis on maintaining the country's territorial integrity. However, the group has violated this agreement multiple times, further complicating the peace efforts in the region.
