Amman: Representatives from Trkiye, Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, and Syria convened in Jordan's capital, Amman, where they reaffirmed their support for the new Syrian government and agreed on measures to combat the ISIS terrorist group. The meeting also condemned Israeli attacks on Syrian territory.

According to Anadolu Agency, the gathering included foreign and defense ministers, intelligence chiefs, and military leaders from the five countries. Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi emphasized the unified stance against terrorism, stating that a joint effort is necessary to tackle the threat posed by ISIS. He also criticized Israel for attacking Syrian territory, suggesting it creates chaos and conditions conducive to extremism.

Safadi announced that Trkiye will host the next meeting of Syria and its neighboring countries in April. Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein highlighted the growing strength and territorial expansion of ISIS, advocating for regional collaboration to address the threat effectively. The meeting resulted in an agreement to establish an operations room, including participation from the Syrian administration.

Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani expressed gratitude for the support from neighboring countries and their opposition to Israeli threats. He called for lifting sanctions on Syria and emphasized the importance of strengthening partnerships across various sectors. Al-Shaibani conveyed Syria's readiness to continue positive cooperation in future meetings to enhance joint efforts for regional stability.

Lebanese Foreign Minister Youssef Rajji stressed the importance of stability in Syria for Lebanon's security. He highlighted ongoing cooperation on issues such as border demarcation and combating arms smuggling, drugs, and terrorism.

From Trkiye, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Defense Minister Yasar Guler, and National Intelligence Organization chief Ibrahim Kalin participated in the discussions. Trkiye places high importance on regional cooperation to address security threats. Fidan, Guler, and Kalin have previously engaged in similar meetings with Syrian, Jordanian, and Iraqi counterparts to strengthen collaborative efforts.
