Suwayda: A fourth humanitarian aid convoy entered the southern Syrian province of Suwayda on Tuesday, according to state media. State news agency SANA reported that the convoy, comprising 22 trucks, made its way into the province via the Busra al-Sham crossing in eastern Daraa.

According to Anadolu Agency, the convoy transported 27,000 liters of fuel, 2,000 food baskets, 2,000 hygiene kits, 10,000 bottles of drinking water, 40 tons of flour, and medical supplies. SANA highlighted that the convoy was organized through collaborative efforts involving the Syrian government, international organizations, and the local community.

On Monday, Suwayda Governor Mustafa al-Bakour disclosed that humanitarian convoys have so far delivered 96 tons of flour and 85,000 liters of fuel to families affected by recent unrest. He mentioned that these convoys continue to enter the province daily without obstruction, utilizing the Busra al-Sham route, with roads remaining accessible for humanitarian operations.

The backdrop to these events includes clashes that erupted on July 13 between Bedouin Arab tribes and armed Druze groups in Suwayda. The violence intensified, leading to Israeli airstrikes on Syrian military positions and infrastructure, including in Damascus. Although Israel justified its actions as protection for Druze communities, most Druze leaders in Syria have publicly opposed foreign interference, emphasizing their dedication to a unified Syrian state. A ceasefire was declared earlier this month.

The new Syrian government is actively working to restore order across the nation following the ouster of the Bashar al-Assad regime in December 2024.
