Taipei: Taiwan has announced that authorities are investigating a suspected leak of official Foreign Ministry documents being sold on the dark web. Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung has swiftly ordered the formation of an investigation team to explore the origin, channels, and extent of the potential leak, as stated in a ministry release.
According to Anadolu Agency, the ministry has not ruled out the possibility that the leak may have originated from internal employees. If it is confirmed that ministry personnel were involved, the matter would be escalated to prosecutors for further action. The statement also noted that a majority of the documents in question are from 2024 and may have been forged or altered prior to their appearance on the dark web.
The ministry has indicated plans to conduct a comprehensive review and enhancement of its security systems to prevent future incidents.
