Tehran: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced on Friday that Tehran is collaborating with Oman to develop operational mechanisms for managing navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.

According to Anadolu Agency, Araghchi's remarks were made during a call with UK Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband, where they discussed regional and international developments, as well as bilateral relations.

IRIB reported that Araghchi emphasized Iran's commitment to establishing these mechanisms with Oman to ensure smooth maritime traffic through the strategic waterway. He cautioned that interference by third parties could complicate the situation further. Additionally, Araghchi criticized Britain's perceived role in conflicts involving Iran, labeling it as 'unjustifiable and condemnable,' and called for a reassessment of its policies by the British government.

During the conversation, Miliband clarified that Britain's new government is not engaged in a war with Iran and advocates for diplomacy as the solution to ongoing issues. He highlighted the significance of maintaining diplomatic dialogue with Tehran to alleviate regional tensions.

In June, the US and Tehran signed a memorandum of understanding, facilitated by Qatari and Pakistani mediation, which included a ceasefire and set the stage for negotiations on a final agreement to conclude the war. The US has called for Iran to cease attacks on commercial shipping and ensure freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, while Iran insists on managing vessel transits through mechanisms it administers in the waterway along its coastline.

The situation between the US and Iran has become increasingly tense in recent weeks, with military strikes exchanged between the two nations' forces in the region.
