Sisaket: The Thai Army has accused Cambodia of violating a ceasefire agreement by firing a grenade into the Phlan Hin Paet Kon area of Sisaket province, close to a Thai patrol point. The incident reportedly took place on Tuesday, raising tensions between the neighboring countries.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Thai military responded to the alleged aggression in accordance with established rules of engagement. The army reassured that no Thai personnel sustained injuries during the event. A statement released on Facebook by the Thai army highlighted the retaliatory measures taken, which included firing an M79 grenade launcher toward the origin of the initial attack.

Maj. Gen. Winthai Suvari, a spokesperson for the Thai army, stated that the incident unfolded while Thai forces were on a routine patrol. He condemned the Cambodian action, asserting that it constituted a breach of the ceasefire agreement between the two nations.

As of the report, there has been no official response from Cambodia regarding the alleged violation. The ceasefire in question was brokered on December 27, following a series of border clashes that resulted in the loss of at least 99 lives, including civilians, underscoring the fragile nature of peace in the region.
