Thailand’s Widespread Flooding Impacts Millions

Bangkok:Flooding has affected over 1.17 million households throughout Thailand, with the capital, Bangkok, struggling with rising water levels.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Director-General of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, Nirat Pongsitthaworn, stated that heavy to very heavy rain across many parts of the country, along with runoff from northern provinces into the Central Plains, has resulted in widespread inundation.

Flooding persists in 27 provinces, impacting 154 districts, 1,209 tambons, and 8,790 villages, in addition to Bangkok. The situation has disrupted the lives of more than 3.2 million people.

Despite the severity, the current figures reflect a slight improvement from Friday, when 31 provinces and Bangkok were affected, impacting more than 1.24 million households.
