Stuart: Golf great Tiger Woods received a five-year driver's license suspension and a $1,000 fine after reaching a plea deal over a March rollover crash in Florida, according to media reports Wednesday. Woods, 50, appeared at the Martin County Courthouse in Stuart, Florida, where he pleaded no contest to reckless driving, a lesser charge than the original driving under the influence charge.

According to Anadolu Agency, the 15-time major champion was fined $1,000 and had his driver's license suspended for five years on the reckless driving charge. He also resolved a separate charge related to his refusal to submit to a drug test. Woods was arrested following the March 27 crash on Jupiter Island after his vehicle collided with a pickup truck and rolled over. No injuries were reported.

Days later, Woods announced that he was stepping away from professional golf for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on his health following the crash. Authorities said Woods passed a breath test for alcohol but refused to provide a urine sample for drug testing.

A police affidavit noted that officers observed Woods 'sweating profusely' and acting 'lethargic and slow,' with eyes described as 'bloodshot and glassy.' Woods told investigators he 'was looking down at his cell phone and changing the radio station' before the crash and 'did not notice the vehicle in front of him had slowed down.'

The March crash marked at least Woods' fourth high-profile auto-related incident. He was seriously injured in a rollover crash in Los Angeles County in February 2021, suffering severe injuries to his right leg and ankle that required multiple surgeries. The American golfer has won 15 major championships and 82 PGA Tour events.
