Toyota to Invest $912 Million in US Plants for Hybrid Production Expansion

New york: Japanese carmaker Toyota Motor has announced plans to invest $912 million in five US manufacturing plants to increase hybrid vehicle production. This move is aimed at meeting the growing demand for hybrid vehicles in the country.

According to Anadolu Agency, the investment is part of a previously announced plan for Toyota to invest up to $10 billion domestically by 2030. Toyota has outlined that the plants receiving investments include the Buffalo plant in West Virginia, Georgetown plant in Kentucky, Blue Springs plant in Mississippi, Jackson plant in Tennessee, and Troy plant in Missouri.

The most significant portion of the investment, $453 million, will be allocated to expanding the production of four-cylinder hybrid-compatible engines at Toyota's Buffalo, West Virginia, facility. Other notable investments include $204.4 million for the Georgetown, Kentucky plant, and $125 million for the Blue Springs, Mississippi plant, which will expand Corolla production, including hybrid models.

Toyota, the second-largest seller of new vehicles in the United States after General Motors, anticipates that these investments will create 252 new jobs. This announcement comes shortly after the Japanese automaker confirmed plans, as indicated by President Donald Trump, to increase its US investment by $10 billion over the next five years.

Toyota emphasized that this additional investment aligns with its 'best-company-in-town' approach, which involves investing and producing locally, contributing to community development, and offering tailored options through a multi-pathway strategy.
