Sanliurfa: A group of travel writers recently explored the historical treasures of Sanliurfa, Trkiye, with support from the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism. This visit was organized following the American Travel Writers Association's congress in Istanbul. According to Anadolu Agency, the writers, hailing from the United States and Canada, visited the Sanliurfa Archaeology Museum. The museum houses nearly 5,000 artifacts from UNESCO World Heritage sites such as Gobeklitepe and Karahantepe. These sites feature Neolithic stone structures and carvings that are reshaping our understanding of early human civilization and challenging traditional views of prehistoric societies. The museum's collection offers a glimpse into ancient civilizations and humanity's past, showcasing treasures that include carved stones, human and animal figures, and inscriptions. These Neolithic-era discoveries, often referred to as the "zero point of history," highlight the ancient lifestyles prevalent during that time. Chez Ch esak, the executive director of the Outdoor Writers Association of America, shared with Anadolu that he finds joy in narrating stories about lesser-known places in Trkiye, such as Sanliurfa, which remain unfamiliar to many North Americans. He emphasized that sharing these narratives helps North American tourists gain a better understanding of Trkiye and its people. Travel writer Jacqueline Swartz expressed her excitement over the Neolithic architecture discoveries, describing them as 'thrilling' and suggesting they could alter our understanding of the era in the future. She remarked that while many have written about archaeology, the uniqueness of these findings stands out. Another writer, Ron D'Var, highlighted that recent discoveries in the region could provide answers to future questions about humanity. He pointed out that these findings have 'set a whole new ground' for our perception of history. Sanliurfa, often referred to as the "City of Prophets," is located in southeastern Trkiye. It is a city ste eped in history, with a significance that extends back to ancient times.
