Ankara: Trkiye and 11 other countries have voiced strong condemnation of Israeli airstrikes on the Abu al-Duhur military airbase in northwestern Syria, describing the attacks as an "extreme escalation" and a breach of Syria's sovereignty.

According to Anadolu Agency, the foreign ministers of Trkiye, Algeria, Indonesia, Jordan, Lebanon, Malaysia, Mauritania, Pakistan, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Somalia issued a joint statement condemning the strikes. They labeled the actions as a significant violation of Syria's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and political unity.

The statement conveyed the ministers' deep concerns over the continuous targeting and deterioration of Syrian territory and infrastructure. They warned that such military actions might hinder efforts to restore security, rebuild national institutions, and address the humanitarian impacts caused by years of conflict in the region.

Additionally, the ministers cautioned that ongoing Israeli violations of Syria's sovereignty could escalate tensions further, destabilizing regional peace and stability while eroding respect for international law and the United Nations Charter.

The group of nations called upon the international community to adopt a "firm, clear, and principled position" against the attacks on Syria. They urged for concrete actions aligned with international law and the UN Charter to halt these violations.

They also emphasized the importance of adhering to the 1974 Disengagement Agreement and advocated for the withdrawal of Israeli forces from occupied areas. Such measures, they argued, are crucial to preventing further escalation and safeguarding regional peace and stability.

The ministers reaffirmed the necessity of respecting Syria's sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity, rejecting any attempts to undermine these principles.
