Ankara: Trkiye and Italy have solidified their bilateral relations by signing 11 memorandums of understanding across a range of sectors, including trade, industrial investments, space, culture, and defense. This development follows the Fourth Trkiye-Italy Intergovernmental Summit, which was co-chaired by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

According to Anadolu Agency, the agreements include a Joint Ministerial Statement aimed at strengthening trade ties between the Turkish Trade Ministry and Italy's Foreign Ministry. Additionally, the Turkish Industry and Technology Ministry and Italy's Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy signed a memorandum to enhance cooperation in science, technology, innovation, industry, and investment.

Among the notable agreements is a memorandum between the Turkish Space Agency and the Italian Space Agency for the peaceful exploration of space. Moreover, the Turkish Culture and Tourism Ministry and Italy's Culture Ministry agreed to combat the illicit trade of cultural property, alongside other cultural collaborations like inter-museum cooperation and the promotion of archaeological heritage.

The summit also resulted in cooperation agreements between the Turkish Youth and Sports Ministry and Italy's Sports and Youth Ministry, as well as between Trkiye's Family and Social Services Ministry and Italy's Disabilities Ministry. The transportation sector saw an agreement between the Turkish Transport and Infrastructure Ministry and the Italian Infrastructure and Transport Ministry to enhance transportation cooperation.

In the defense sector, a preliminary protocol was signed between Baykar, a leading Turkish drone manufacturer, and Leonardo, a major European defense company, marking a significant step towards future collaborations.
