Trkiye and Senegal Forge Agreements in Defense, Media, and Education

Ankara: Trkiye and Senegal have entered into four significant agreements aimed at bolstering cooperation across defense, media, and education sectors. The agreements were signed after discussions between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Senegalese Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko at the Presidential Complex in Ankara.

According to Anadolu Agency, the signing ceremony marked the culmination of one-on-one talks and inter-delegation meetings. Turkish National Defense Minister Yasar Guler and Senegalese Minister of the Armed Forces General Birame Diop signed the Military Financial Cooperation Agreement, including the First Amendment Protocol to the Cash Assistance Implementation, initially agreed upon on January 28, 2020.

In the media sector, Turkish Trade Minister Omer Bolat and Senegalese Minister of African Integration and Foreign Affairs Yassine Fall signed the Agreement on Co-Production and Cooperation in the Fields of Film, Audiovisual and Multimedia. This agreement is expected to facilitate collaborative projects in media production and distribution.

The education sector saw a memorandum of understanding signed between Trkiye's Council of Higher Education (YOK) and Senegal's Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. YOK President Erol Ozvar and Minister Yassine Fall formalized the agreement on Cooperation in the field of Higher Education for the years 2025-2028, aiming to enhance academic exchange and research collaboration between the two nations.
