Trkiye, Bulgaria Discuss Expansion of Railway Links to Enhance Europe-Asia Trade

Sofia: Trkiye and Bulgaria have entered discussions to fortify bilateral transport connections and expand railway infrastructure in response to surging freight traffic, as announced by Turkish Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu on Thursday.

According to Anadolu Agency, Uraloglu recently held discussions with Bulgarian Transport and Communications Minister Georgi Peev and his delegation in Sofia. The primary focus was on enhancing international transport infrastructure to manage the growing rail traffic facilitated by the Development Road project.

The dialogue included evaluating plans for establishing a second railway connection and upgrading parts of the Plovdiv-Svilengrad-Trkiye border railway line into a double-track system. Uraloglu emphasized Trkiye's commitment to advancing transport links with Bulgaria, with the aim of boosting trade and transportation between Europe and Asia.
