Trkiye Closely Monitoring US Trade Policies, Engages in Dialogue with US Officials

Ankara: Trkiye's Trade Minister Omer Bolat stated that the country is attentively observing the new trade policies of the United States and is prepared to engage in continuous dialogue. Bolat recently conducted a teleconference with US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick and US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer to enhance the trade and economic relations between Trkiye and the United States.

According to Anadolu Agency, Bolat expressed the meeting was productive and highlighted the strong intention to advance economic cooperation between the two nations. He congratulated both Lutnick and Greer on their new roles and reiterated the commitment to achieving the $100 billion trade volume target previously set by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and former US President Donald Trump.

Bolat mentioned the aspiration to bolster mutual cooperation in various sectors, including energy, infrastructure, automotive, textile and apparel, agriculture, health, digital economy, and chemistry. US officials acknowledged Trkiye's significance as a trade and investment partner and expressed readiness to collaborate and explore new ideas to increase trade volume and develop partnerships in new areas.

Bolat also noted plans for an upcoming face-to-face meeting with Lutnick and Greer. Prior to this, both countries' trade ministers have agreed to convene the Trade and Investment Council meeting next month at the technical level between the Turkish Trade Ministry and the USTR. Trkiye and the US will continue their collaborative efforts to further enhance trade relations.
