Trkiye Condemns Houthi Attacks on Saudi Arabia, Affirms Support for Kingdom’s Sovereignty

Ankara: Turkey on Tuesday strongly condemned the Houthi attacks in Yemen targeting Saudi Arabia, affirming its support for the Kingdom's sovereignty and territorial integrity. The Turkish Foreign Ministry stated that the attacks disregard civilian safety and escalate regional tensions. According to Union of OIC News Agencies, the Turkish Foreign Ministry released a statement denouncing the Houthi attacks. "We condemn in the strongest terms the Houthi attacks targeting Saudi Arabia, which disregard the safety of civilian lives and property, and escalate tensions in the region," the statement read. The ministry emphasized its continued support for Saudi Arabia's sovereignty and territorial integrity. The Turkish ministry further highlighted that such attacks undermine diplomatic efforts aimed at resolving the conflict in Yemen through a lasting political solution. It urged the Houthis to cease hostilities immediately. Earlier, the Saudi Foreign Ministry reported that 73 civilians, including women and childre n, were injured due to the Houthi attacks on civilian and economic sites in Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan, and Najran. The attacks resulted in fires and a temporary shutdown of energy sector facilities. The Saudi ministry also noted ongoing threats to commercial vessels in the Red Sea, which jeopardize international maritime navigation. The Kingdom reiterated its rejection of the Houthi militia's actions, which threaten Yemen's and the region's security and stability, and continue to undermine peace efforts. Saudi Arabia affirmed its right to defend its sovereignty and protect its national assets, citizens, and residents, following international law. The Kingdom warned against continued targeting of civilians and urged an immediate halt to all forms of escalation by the Houthi militia. In a separate statement, the Saudi Ministry of Energy confirmed that several energy sector facilities in the southern region were targeted on Tuesday morning. The attacks caused fires at multiple sites, leading to a temporary halt in some operations. An official noted the injuries of varying severity sustained by citizens and residents, with medical care being administered as assessments continue.
