Ankara: Trkiye on Friday "strongly" condemned Israeli actions at the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied East Jerusalem, accusing Israeli forces of attacking Muslims seeking to worship at the site-one of Islam's holiest places-during a Muslim holiday (Eid).
According to Anadolu Agency, Burhanettin Duran, Trkiye's communications chief, expressed on Turkish social media platform NSosyal that the attack on civilians gathered for worship during Eid al-Fitr contradicts freedom of belief and human dignity. Duran emphasized that unity, peace, and brotherhood are central themes of the holiday, and the incident stands against these principles.
Duran further stated that this incident of "barbarity" by Israel, which dismisses law, principles, and values, adds to its "pages of shame." He reiterated Trkiye's commitment to maintaining a firm stance against any violations targeting the status and sanctity of the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
