Izmir: Trkiye is expanding its efforts to export its domestically produced jet engines, following a recent agreement to supply turbojet missile engines to Brazil. Osman Okyay, chair of the Turkish firm Kale Group, shared this development with Anadolu, highlighting the significant progress Trkiye has made in the field of domestic jet engine production. Since 2012, Kale Group has been working on three different types of jet engines, which have now entered mass production.

According to Anadolu Agency, this year marks the second year of mass production for these jet engines. In addition to cruise missile engines, the company is working on four engine development projects aimed at fulfilling Trkiye's needs for engines in cruise missiles, jets, and kamikaze unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Okyay emphasized the complexity of jet engine production, noting that only a few countries worldwide possess this capability. However, Trkiye is poised to join this exclusive group.

The recent export deal with Brazil involves the KTJ-3200 turbojet missile engine, as Brazil develops a cruise missile but lacks the necessary engine. Okyay revealed that Trkiye is currently engaged in export negotiations with 10-12 countries, with the possibility of signing deals with one or two additional countries this year.

Sibel Zorlu, chair of the Aegean Industrialists' Association, also commented to Anadolu about the role of the Turkish defense and aviation industries in driving the country's economic growth. She pointed out the potential of the Aegean region and Izmir, in particular, as a hub for the defense and aviation sectors due to its free zones, technoparks, research and development centers, and a qualified workforce.
