Ankara: Trkiye takes all necessary steps beyond its borders for its security, neutralizing threats at their source without seeking permission from anyone, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Thursday. Speaking at an iftar program with families of martyrs at Cankaya Mansion in the capital Ankara, Erdogan stated that significant progress has been made in efforts toward a ‘terror-free Trkiye.’
According to Anadolu Agency, Erdogan emphasized that Trkiye has been proactive in neutralizing threats both within and beyond its borders. He mentioned that there has been a decrease in security risks directed at the country. In the initiative launched 16 months ago, significant progress has been observed in reducing security risks.
Erdogan expressed determination to rid Trkiye of terrorism permanently, referring to it as a scourge that has affected the nation for nearly half a century. He highlighted the efforts of the armed forces and security units in restricting the mobility of terrorist organizations.
In the defense sector, Erdogan noted that Trkiye has achieved a domestic production rate of around 80%, reversing its previous reliance on foreign sources. He mentioned the country’s capability to meet its needs in various fields, including UAVs, missiles, and tanks, and expressed aspirations for advancements in fighter jets and aircraft carriers.
Erdogan also commented on developments in Syria, mentioning an agreement reached last month to resolve the issue in northern Syria without bloodshed and the initiation of a process toward full integration.
