Ankara: Trkiye will continue to stand with the Palestinian people in their just struggle and will resolutely support efforts to effectively implement international law and establish justice, the Turkish Foreign Ministry stated. This announcement followed a significant ruling by the International Court of Justice (ICJ), which emphasized Israel's obligations under the Geneva Convention.

According to Anadolu Agency, the ICJ ruled that Israel must facilitate relief efforts by third states and humanitarian groups, including the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA), to ensure sufficient aid reaches the Gaza Strip. This ruling highlights Israel's legal violations in the occupied Palestinian territories, contravening its international commitments.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry underscored that the ICJ's advisory opinion reveals Israel's continued violations of its obligations, its crimes against the Palestinian people, obstruction of humanitarian aid, and targeting of UN facilities and personnel. These actions, the ministry stressed, pose a challenge to the international legal order.

The court's ruling reaffirms the unlawfulness of Israeli attempts to undermine the authority and activities of the UN and UNRWA in the occupied territories. Trkiye has actively contributed to the ICJ process through both written and oral statements, the ministry noted.
