Ankara: Trkiye has reiterated its stance of not recognizing the "de facto situation in Crimea" on the 12th anniversary of Russia's annexation of the region. The country emphasized that the annexation, conducted through what it described as an "illegitimate referendum," is a violation of international law.

According to Anadolu Agency, Trkiye expressed strong support for Ukraine's independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. The Foreign Ministry highlighted its commitment to closely monitor developments in Crimea, especially concerning the Crimean Tatar Turks, and to keep the issue on the international agenda.

The annexation of Crimea by Russia in 2014 is considered illegal by the international community, including Trkiye and the United Nations General Assembly, and continues to be a point of contention in international relations.
