Ankara: Trkiye on Friday strongly rejected remarks by the Israeli Prime Minister's Office targeting President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, describing them as devoid of 'historical facts and political seriousness.'
According to Anadolu Agency, the insolent rants of the Israeli Prime Minister's Office targeting President Erdogan, which are devoid of historical facts and political seriousness, are yet another indication of the helplessness of an administration seeking to evade accountability for war crimes and crimes against humanity, Trkiye's Communications Directorate stated in a message on Turkish social media platform NSosyal.
The directorate criticized the 'cheap politics' of Netanyahu and his associates, alleging that their actions, aimed partly at gaining a political advantage, hold no significance in Israeli society, the region, the international community, or Trkiye. It emphasized that the remarks by an administration facing genocide accusations before international justice mechanisms show how deeply Trkiye's voice and President Erdogan's unwavering stance have unsettled certain circles.
The directorate further noted that recent developments indicate Israel's election campaign is increasingly being shaped by 'irresponsible security populism' and an aggressive politics of threats. It accused the Netanyahu administration of attempting to construct Trkiye as a new threat figure as part of this political strategy.
The directorate warned that escalating tensions for domestic political gain poses 'serious risks' not only to Israeli society but also to regional and global peace and stability. Trkiye, it stated, will continue to stand against oppression and support peace, justice, and stability in the region, regardless of the cost.
Earlier on Friday, Trkiye announced it had requested Interpol red notices for Netanyahu and another Israeli defendant in connection with an ongoing prosecution over an Israeli attack on activists aboard the Gaza-bound Global Sumud Flotilla.
