Istanbul: With a baby gorilla unexpectedly arriving at Istanbul Airport, the Turkish government is reaching out to the public for assistance in naming the young primate. The 5-month-old male gorilla was discovered during a customs inspection, having arrived from Nigeria without the necessary documentation for transit through Trkiye.

According to Anadolu Agency, the gorilla was seized by Turkish Customs Protection teams on December 22 as part of their efforts to combat illegal wildlife trafficking. Following its confiscation, the critically endangered gorilla was transferred to the Agriculture and Forestry Ministry, where it is receiving rehabilitation and care through the Nature Conservation and National Parks Directorate General.

The ministry shared a photo of the gorilla accompanied by the message: "Don't worry, friends, I'm fine." Updates on the gorilla's health have been positive, with officials stating that the young ape is in stable condition and remains under observation and care.
