Ankara: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Monday stated that efforts are being made with full commitment to transform Trkiye into an "emerald green" country. He emphasized the importance of forests not just as a legacy from ancestors, but as a responsibility toward future generations. This message was conveyed via a video shared by the Turkish Presidency on National Tree Planting Day. According to Anadolu Agency, Erdogan highlighted the significance of instilling this mindset across society, particularly among the youth, by declaring November 11 as National Tree Planting Day. He reiterated that the government is striving to enhance the country for future generations in all aspects. The afforestation campaign has led to the planting of over 7 billion saplings, resulting in a 12% increase in forested areas, now totaling 23.4 million hectares. This initiative underscores the commitment to environmental sustainability and preservation for the coming generations.
