Ankara: Trkiye's National Defense Minister Yasar Guler announced firm measures against terrorist groups, including PKK, YPG, and SDF, during a visit to the Artillery and Missile School Command in Polatli district near Ankara. Guler emphasized that no terrorist organization would be allowed to maintain activities or impose new realities in the region. According to Anadolu Agency, Guler highlighted the significant restriction of terrorist group mobility both domestically and across borders through effective operations in 2025. This has weakened their access to shelter, logistics, and human resources, laying the groundwork for a 'Terror-Free Trkiye'. Guler acknowledged the contributions of martyrs, veterans, and the Turkish Armed Forces to these achievements. Guler stated that Trkiye would continue counterterrorism efforts with prudence and responsibility, coordinating with institutions and maintaining close dialogue with Syria's administration. He urged the SDF to fulfill its obligations under the March 10 ag reement. Additionally, Guler warned against unilateral actions in Cyprus, the Aegean, and the Eastern Mediterranean, asserting Trkiye's resolve to protect its rights and prevent any actions undertaken despite Trkiye. The minister underscored Trkiye's role as a supporter of international law and a contributor to global and regional peace, with the Turkish Armed Forces participating in security missions in countries like Azerbaijan, Libya, and Somalia. The March 10 agreement, announced by the Syrian presidency, involves the integration of the SDF into state institutions, reinforcing Syria's territorial unity. However, Syrian authorities claim the SDF has not met the agreement's terms, a concern that Trkiye shares, highlighting the interconnected security issues in Syria and Trkiye. The Syrian government has been increasing security efforts following the fall of the Assad regime in December 2024.
