Trkiye Will Never Forget Azerbaijani People’s Solidarity After Earthquakes: President Erdogan

Kahramanmaras: Trkiye will never forget the solidarity of the Azerbaijani people after the earthquakes that hit southern Trkiye in February 2023, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Thursday. Speaking at the key delivery ceremony of post-quake houses in Trkiye's Kahramanmaras province alongside his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev, Erdogan stated that Azerbaijan was one of the first countries that came to his country's aid after the quakes.

According to Anadolu Agency, Baku provided significant assistance to help heal wounds after the earthquakes, which included participating in the construction of post-quake houses. Erdogan expressed appreciation for Azerbaijan's role in helping build these houses. He emphasized that despite global and regional challenges, healing the wounds from the disaster remains a priority.

On February 6, 2023, magnitude 7.7 and 7.6 earthquakes struck 11 Turkish provinces, including Adana, Adiyaman, Diyarbakir, Elazig, Hatay, Gaziantep, Kahramanmaras, Kilis, Malatya, Osmaniye, and Sanliurfa. These quakes affected more than 13.5 million people in Trkiye, as well as many others in northern Syria.

The post-quake houses, whose keys were handed over during the ceremony, were constructed by the Azerbaijani government and the Housing Development Administration of the Republic of Trkiye (TOKI) in the Azerbaijan Neighborhood of Kahramanmaras.
