Ankara: Trkiye's 5G technology tender, involving the participation of the country's three primary telecom operators, has surpassed expectations, reaching a valuation of over $3.5 billion, including value-added tax (VAT), as announced by the country's transport and infrastructure minister.

According to Anadolu Agency, Abdulkadir Uraloglu, the minister, shared the news on Turkish social media platform NSosyal, highlighting the successful completion of the 5G tender. He noted that the initial target of $2.125 billion had been exceeded, with the final valuation reaching $3.534 billion with VAT. Uraloglu expressed gratitude to Turk Telekom, Turkcell, and Vodafone for their participation, emphasizing the economic benefits this would bring to Trkiye.

The rollout of the 5G service is scheduled to begin nationwide on April 1, allowing Turks to enjoy the technology without any changes to their current pricing structure, as stated by Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Omer Fatih Sayan. Sayan described the completed 5G Authorization Tender as a milestone, enhancing Trkiye's digital sovereignty, economic independence, and national power.

He further explained that the implementation of 5G technology would not only improve infrastructure but also boost Trkiye's production power, industry, science, and strategic capacity through features such as high speeds, low latency, broad connection capacity, and energy efficiency.
