Istanbul: The Turkish benchmark stock index, BIST 100, closed on Wednesday at 9,649.53 points, marking a decrease of 0.68%, or 66.05 points, from the previous day's close.
According to Anadolu Agency, the BIST 100 index began trading at 9,617.01, experiencing a loss of 98.57 points from the Tuesday close. Throughout the trading session, the index hit a low of 9,566.80 and reached a high of 9,749.43.
Out of the stocks listed, 60 indexes saw a decline in value, while 37 ended the day with gains. The total transaction volume for the day amounted to 130.2 billion Turkish liras, equivalent to $3.42 billion. The index's overall market value stood at 8.68 trillion liras, approximately $229 billion.
In foreign exchange rates, the USD/TRY was recorded at 38.0050 as of 6.30 pm local time (1530GMT). Meanwhile, the euro/lira exchange rate was 41.0310, and the British pound was at 48.9915.
