Istanbul: Trkiye's benchmark stock index, BIST 100, achieved a significant milestone by closing above the 13,000 level for the first time. The index rose by 1.42%, reaching 13,177.32 points at the close of trading on Monday.
According to Anadolu Agency, the BIST 100 index began the week at 12,929.33 points and gained 184.61 points from Friday's closing value. The index fluctuated between a low of 12,886.22 and a high of 13,182.05 during the trading session.
The market value of the BIST 100 index stood at approximately 13.02 trillion Turkish liras, equivalent to $301.3 billion, with a trading volume of 192.4 billion liras, or $4.43 billion. In the index, 74 stocks saw an increase, while 23 experienced a decline, compared to the previous close.
As of 6.20 pm local time (1520GMT), gold was priced at $5,089.95 per ounce. Brent crude oil traded at $64.95 per barrel. Meanwhile, the exchange rates for the US dollar, euro, and British pound against the Turkish lira were 43.3705, 51.5420, and 59.4375 liras, respectively.
