Davos: Trkiye's foreign minister announced that the newly formed Board of Peace will gain significance as tangible actions are implemented to address international conflicts. The statement was made following US President Donald Trump's formal inauguration of the Board of Peace, where he serves as chairman, in partnership with the United Nations to tackle global crises beyond the Gaza Strip.

According to Anadolu Agency, Hakan Fidan, Trkiye's foreign minister, emphasized the efforts of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in halting the violence in Gaza. Fidan described the Board of Peace as a platform for countries to reconcile differing views through diplomatic negotiations. He mentioned that the board has already convened its first meeting, focusing on necessary steps to allow humanitarian aid into Gaza and actions to be taken by the Palestinian National Committee.

Fidan also addressed developments in Syria, reiterating Trkiye's commitment to the country's unity and territorial integrity. He highlighted the transformation Syria has undergone over the past 14 years and stressed the importance of protecting the rights of all ethnic and religious groups in the nation. Fidan urged Syrians to unite under a common national identity while maintaining pride in their individual identities.

Discussing Trkiye's role in the shifting global order, Fidan pointed out Ankara's constructive regional role and its balanced policy with global powers. He mentioned the rapidly changing global landscape, including uncertainty over potential military actions concerning Greenland and evolving negotiations after President Trump's remarks. Fidan also referred to the Russia-Ukraine war, emphasizing the importance of carefully assessing developments to avoid instability.
