Trkiye’s Current Account Deficit Expected to Reach $9.5B in March

Ankara: Trkiye's current account deficit is projected to widen significantly in March, reaching $9.5292 billion, and the full-year deficit is expected to total $51.89 billion. These figures come from estimates provided by economists who participated in a survey conducted by Anadolu.

According to Anadolu Agency, the survey included input from 12 economists ahead of the release of the balance of payments data by Trkiye's Central Bank, scheduled for Wednesday. Forecasts for the March deficit varied between $6 billion and $10.5 billion. If the median forecast of $9.53 billion is realized, it would represent a significant increase from February's current account deficit of $7.5 billion.

The February figure stood at $35.4 billion, and the anticipated March numbers are expected to considerably widen Trkiye's annualized current account deficit. The long-term estimates among survey respondents showed a division, with annual deficit forecasts ranging between $35 billion and $62 billion.
