Istanbul: Francisca Tatchouop Belobe, the African Union (AU) commissioner for economic development, tourism, trade, industry, and mining, emphasized that Trkiye's achievements in construction, manufacturing, and logistics position it as an essential partner for Africa's industrial development. Speaking at the 5th Trkiye-Africa Business and Economic Forum (TABEF) in Istanbul, she underscored the importance of enhancing trade and investment ties between Trkiye and Africa, not only on a bilateral level but also by utilizing Africa as a gateway to regional value chains and harmonized regulation.

According to Anadolu Agency, Belobe highlighted that the forum occurs during a period of global uncertainty, with challenges such as inflation, disrupted supply chains, food insecurity, energy transitions, and climate change impacts. Despite these challenges, she sees opportunities for Trkiye and Africa to redefine and strengthen their partnership in mutually beneficial and resilient ways. Belobe stressed the AU's efforts towards Agenda 2063, emphasizing that the relationship between Trkiye and Africa is based on mutual respect and long-term cooperation, with a call for enhanced collaboration to advance shared priorities.

Belobe pointed out the need for cooperation to focus on classic economic growth while empowering youth, women, and small enterprises to engage in innovation and entrepreneurship. The TABEF, organized by the Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEIK) in collaboration with the African Union and hosted by the Turkish Trade Ministry, commenced on Thursday. Anadolu serves as the global communications partner for the two-day forum, which is themed 'Leveraging Trkiye-Africa Relations for Mutual Gains.'

This year's event highlights key sectors such as agriculture and food, renewable energy, mining, automotive, textiles, transport and logistics, construction, defense, and digital technologies.
