Ankara: Trkiye's external assets reached a total of $399.2 billion by the end of October, marking a 0.9% increase from the previous month, as per official figures released by the Central Bank on Friday. The data also revealed that the country's liabilities to non-residents decreased by 0.2% to $722.5 billion compared to September.

According to Anadolu Agency, Trkiye's net international investment position (NIIP), which calculates the difference between assets and liabilities, stood at minus $323.3 billion, experiencing a 1.5% decrease on a monthly basis.

In terms of asset categories, direct investments rose by 1.3% to $73.5 billion, while other investments saw a decline of 0.5%, totaling $137.3 billion. Reserve assets, on the other hand, increased by 1.9% to $183.6 billion, whereas portfolio investments amounted to $4.8 billion. The foreign exchange deposits of resident banks held abroad fell by 4.2% to $40.9 billion.

Regarding liabilities, direct investments showed a decrease of 1.9%, settling at $209.6 billion by the end of October. Portfolio investments under liabilities slightly increased by 0.1% annually to $131 billion, with other investments rising by 0.7% to $381.9 billion.
