Ankara: Trkiye's new call for innovative defense technologies under the HIT-30 Program is expected to help draw international investments to the country, said the nation's industry and technology minister on Tuesday. According to Anadolu Agency, Mehmet Fatih Kacir shared on the sidelines of the Defense Industry Forum, part of NATO's annual leaders' summit in Ankara, that the Innovative Defense Technologies call under HIT-30 is set to pave the way for international investments. The minister highlighted the nation's readiness to offer these investments various opportunities, including land allocation and other incentive mechanisms. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has announced that the HIT-30 Program will support key investment areas in Trkiye with $30 billion in state support by 2030. Kacir noted that the program has already attracted interest from domestic and international investors. The HIT-30 initiative aims to foster next-generation technology investments ranging from mobility technologies to semiconduct ors, artificial intelligence, and data centers. This week, Trkiye announced the Innovative Defense Technologies call under HIT-30, committing to support large-scale production of innovative defense technologies with $5 billion. The support package comprises tax cuts, employment incentives, grants, and favorable financing options. Kacir emphasized the importance of transforming innovation into industrial capability, which is pivotal in the current global geopolitical climate. Trkiye excels in turning innovative defense projects into large-scale serial production investments. The world is now entering a 'NATO 3.0' phase, characterized by increased defense investments in Europe and a heightened focus on scaling innovation in defense. Kacir believes this period will see many international investments directed to Trkiye, positioning the nation as an essential part of European value chains and Europe's security. European countries within NATO are anticipated to pursue stronger industrial and technological collabo rations with Trkiye. The minister reiterated Trkiye's commitment to realizing innovative defense technology investments domestically. He also stressed the interconnection between defense and civilian industries, where innovation in defense can transition to civilian use, and dual-use technologies are expected to grow rapidly. Trkiye aims to expand its defense industry, which already comprises 4,000 companies and employs 100,000 individuals. The country seeks to involve more small- and medium-sized enterprises in the sector to develop innovative projects and enhance their scaling processes. With over 13,000 technology startups in 114 technoparks, Trkiye is a hub of R and D and innovation, striving to scale these startups' innovative projects. Kacir stated that the objectives of the HIT-30 call are in line with NATO's program to scale innovation, which will be presented at this week's NATO summit. The initiative aims to boost investments that rapidly scale innovative projects from SMEs and technology startups , direct private capital into this field, and accelerate the process with public resources acting as a catalyst. Trkiye is regarded as one of Europe's significant production powers, and Kacir hopes the HIT-30 Innovative Defense Technologies call will enhance Trkiye's international cooperation.
