Ankara: Trkiye's industrial production increased by 1.2% year-on-year in January, the country's statistical office announced on Monday. Ten sub-items posted increase, while 3 sub-indexes saw falls in the month on a yearly basis.
According to Anadolu Agency, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) reported that the energy index increased by 6.3%, the manufacturing index grew by 1.2%, and the electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply index rose by 5% in January 2024. In contrast, the mining and quarrying index fell by 0.7%, the non-durable consumer goods index declined by 1.4%, and the medium-high technology index decreased by 3.8% annually.
On a monthly basis, the industrial production dropped by 2.3%. The high-technology index declined by 30.7%, the capital goods index fell by 13.1%, and the manufacturing index dropped by 3% in January. However, the mining and quarrying index saw a monthly rise of 7.5%, the durable consumer goods index increased by 2.9%, and the energy index went up by 1.3% in January.
