Ankara: The Turkish Central Bank's official international reserves have reached a record high of $189.7 billion as of October 10, as per official figures released on Thursday.
According to Anadolu Agency, the total reserves increased by 1.9%, or $3.5 billion, from the previous week's total of $186.2 billion. This increase was driven by a 0.5% rise in foreign currency reserves, now totaling $79.6 billion. Additionally, the bank's gold reserves, including gold deposits and, if appropriate, gold-swapped, rose by 3.2% to $102.4 billion during the same period.
Meanwhile, the total International Monetary Fund (IMF) reserve position and special drawing rights saw a decrease of 0.7%, reaching $7.7 billion. This marks the third consecutive time that the Turkish Central Bank's reserves have achieved a new record high. In the last two months alone, the reserves have reached record levels on five separate occasions.
