Istanbul: Turkish land vehicle manufacturer Katmerciler is set to sign an agreement with Malaysia for its light tactical vehicle 'Eren' 4‚¬Å¡¬€š¬4 during the International Defense Industry Fair (IDEF 2025) in Istanbul, as announced by the company.

According to Anadolu Agency, Katmerciler will also showcase its mine-resistant ambush-protected personnel carrier Hizir and a special version of the O-IKA 2 unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) at the event. The Hizir is designed to protect against mines and improvised explosives, featuring resilient armor, a V-shaped monocoque chassis, and energy-absorbing seats. It is equipped with a 400-horsepower engine enabling high performance in combat conditions, both in rural and urban settings, and has a remotely controllable weapon system for engaging moving targets.

The Hizir can accommodate nine personnel, attain speeds up to 120 kilometers per hour, and exhibits a climbing capability of 70%. The UKAP, Katmerciler's first UGV concept, integrates technology from Katmerciler and Aselsan, featuring Aselsan's SARP remote-controlled weapon system and satellite communication system. It is capable of climbing at a 60% gradient, handling a 40% side slope, crossing a 900-millimeter trench, and overcoming a 400-millimeter vertical obstacle while carrying up to 1 metric ton.

The UKAP is equipped with thermal and mobile cameras and sensors, enabling it to function as a border and reconnaissance vehicle, perform mine clearance, act as a rescue vehicle, transport payloads, ammunition, and equipment, and tow vehicles as necessary.

Furkan Katmerci, deputy chair of Katmerciler, indicated the new cooperation agreement with Malaysian company Deftech for the Eren 4‚¬Å¡¬€š¬4 will be formalized during IDEF 2025, with both companies' CEOs present at the signing ceremony.
