Trkiye’s President Erdogan and German Chancellor Merz Engage in Strategic Talks

Ankara: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Germany's Chancellor Friedrich Merz engaged in a phone conversation on Monday to discuss regional and global issues, alongside bilateral relations, as reported by Trkiye's Communications Directorate.

According to Anadolu Agency, President Erdogan emphasized Trkiye's intent to fortify its relationship with Germany, highlighting the significance of maintaining mutual efforts toward achieving this objective. Erdogan also expressed Trkiye's expectation for a "strong commitment" at the upcoming NATO summit in Ankara, aimed at enhancing Europe's defense and reinforcing the "transatlantic bond."

During the discussion, Erdogan addressed the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict, outlining Ankara's initiatives to facilitate lasting peace and the resumption of negotiations.
